Asociación Ucraniana de Tenerife Norte Announces Cooperation with Local Authorities and Invites Everyone to an Easter Celebration
The Ukrainian Association of North Tenerife invites you to an Easter picnic on April 12 in Taoro Park to celebrate and plan joint projects with local support.
The Ukrainian community in the Canary Islands continues to actively unite and create new opportunities for its compatriots. In the north of the island, the Asociación Ucraniana de Tenerife Norte (Ukrainian Association of North Tenerife) has officially launched its activities as a new hub for support, the preservation of traditions, and the integration of Ukrainians.
In addition to cultural initiatives, the association is already taking confident steps at the official level, building bridges with local authorities.
A Productive Dialogue with the Puerto de la Cruz Authorities
Recently, the president of the newly formed association, Tetiana Radchenko, held an important official meeting with the Mayor of Puerto de la Cruz. The negotiations were highly productive and constructive.
The main takeaway from the meeting is that the local government is completely open to dialogue and ready to provide comprehensive support to the Ukrainian community. The Mayor expressed a willingness to collaborate on joint initiatives and, most importantly, to provide premises for the association's needs and events.
Now, the Ukrainian community faces an ambitious task: to prepare and submit concrete projects within two weeks that the authorities are ready to back. This is a unique opportunity for the community to make its mark, establish educational, cultural, or social spaces, and strengthen the Ukrainian presence in Tenerife.
A Grand Spring Celebration: Easter Invitation to Taoro Park
To discuss this incredible news, as well as simply to hug, support one another, and celebrate the bright holiday of the Resurrection, the Asociación Ucraniana de Tenerife Norte invites all Ukrainians to a large spring picnic.
Recently, many new Ukrainians have arrived on the island. This holiday is a wonderful opportunity for newcomers to meet their compatriots and integrate into the community, while those who have lived here for a long time can catch up with old friends in a warm, soulful atmosphere.
What to expect at the event:
- Potluck-style table: The gathering format involves a traditional shared picnic. The organizers suggest bringing paskas (traditional Easter bread), painted eggs, wine, and any other treats you would like to share.
- Entertainment for children: To keep the little ones entertained, a traditional Easter egg hunt will be organized in the park. Important: Parents are asked to bring a bag of chocolate eggs or candies. The adults will hide them among the trees and bushes, and the children will be able to go on an exciting hunt for the sweet treats.
- Brainstorming and planning for the future: This gathering is not just about relaxing. Since the association has only two weeks to submit projects to the Mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, anyone interested can share their ideas, discuss next steps, and collectively decide what the shared Ukrainian future in northern Tenerife will look like.
"We want to gather in a warm and heartfelt way — it’s been so long since we last saw each other. Let's spend this day together: chatting, tasting paskas, just being there for one another, and planning our next steps," notes the Asociación Ucraniana de Tenerife Norte.
