Young Patient Conducts Tenerife Symphony at HUC
The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra performed a concert at the University Hospital Complex of the Canary Islands, delighting patients, staff, and visitors, and allowing a young patient to conduct.
Just like they did on Thursday at La Candelaria Hospital, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra brought music to the University Hospital Complex of the Canary Islands (HUC) this Friday.
Patients, their families, healthcare staff, and visitors attending appointments or diagnostic tests enjoyed a concert conducted by Ángel Camacho.
The musicians performed works by Georges Bizet, Edvard Grieg, Gonzalo Cabrera, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Ruperto Chapí, and Johannes Brahms. They also played 'Soy de aquí' by Benito Cabrera, and a selection of Mecano songs arranged by Peter Hope.
To conclude the event, the orchestra offered a young patient the special opportunity to conduct them during Johann Strauss (father)'s 'Radetzky March'.
Rafael Martín, the HUC manager, thanked the Cabildo and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra for this initiative. He noted how it brightens the stay for hospitalized patients and everyone else using the hospital's services.
