Young Musicians Vie for Canary Islands Soloist Title at Auditorio de Tenerife
Aspiring musicians from professional music schools across the Canary Islands will compete for a chance to represent the region in the 24th Intercentros Melómano national final this Saturday at the Auditorio de Tenerife.
This Saturday at 4:00 PM, the Chamber Hall at the Auditorio de Tenerife will be buzzing with talent for the regional final of the 24th Intercentros Melómano competition. This event gives music students a chance to shine and find out who will represent the Canary Islands in the running for the Soloist Performance Award in the Professional Grade category. You can attend for free, but seats are limited.
Students from the professional music schools in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will be performing. They'll be showing off their skills on a variety of instruments, including percussion, tuba, clarinet, cello, guitar, saxophone, and piano.
Thanks to the Auditorio de Tenerife's support, each student will have up to 15 minutes to perform whatever music they choose. After the performances, a panel of judges will make their decision, and then diplomas will be handed out, with the winner being announced.
The talented musicians competing are: Alejandro Barrabí and Miguel Mira (percussion), Jorge Ojeda (tuba), Teo Rivero (clarinet), Ciro Moreno (cello), Diego Bencomo (guitar), Sarah Hiraldo (saxophone), and Violeta Muñoz (piano). The judging panel includes composer Miguel Ángel Linares, Daniel Broncano, technical director of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, and pianist Inmaculada Marrero.
The winner will go on to represent the Canary Islands in the national final on December 7th at the Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante-ADDA. The Intercentros Melómano competition, started by the Orfeo Foundation in 2002, aims to encourage music students to take part in professional-level contests.
