Queens League captain Yese Ortiz scored a spectacular viral free-kick for Las Pilares FC, despite her team's loss and minor controversy over the defensive wall.

Yese Ortiz has scored a free-kick goal in the Queens League that has gone viral. Her brilliant shot flew into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper no chance.

The player, originally from La Gomera, is in her second season in the Queens League, a competition founded by Ibai Llanos. She plays for Las Pilares FC, a team co-owned by influencers Marina Riverss and Lucii Borro, having joined them from Rayo de Barcelona.

Last season, the young player scored five goals and was even named MVP of a matchday. This year, as captain of Las Pilares, she has already scored her first goal – and it was spectacular.

During this week's match against Las Troncas, Yesenia Ortiz took a direct free-kick from near the center of the field. She aimed for the net and perfectly placed the ball into the top corner, creating the viral goal.

However, the goal has also drawn some criticism, not for Ortiz's skill, but because an opposing player in the defensive wall moved forward too soon, before the player from La Gomera had even kicked the ball.

The young Canarian captain scored the opening goal, but her team ultimately lost the match 5-7 to Las Troncas FC. This defeat leaves Yesenia's team at the bottom of the table with two losses.

"I wanted to shoot it there, and I can't even believe it myself," the 20-year-old Canarian player said after seeing the replay. Yesenia Ortiz joined this women's competition, created by Ibai Llanos, quite by chance. Friends had encouraged her to sign up for the Queens League selection process.

"When I found out I had been selected, I was very nervous but also very excited," she told El Día last year, thanking her family and the people of the Canary Islands for their support. "I knew I had the support of my island, and thanks to that, I managed to reach first place in the voting," she explained.

Now, following the departures of Nauzet Hernández and Álex Médina, she is the only player from her home province remaining in the tournament.
