XX La Tijera Orotava Festival Screens Official Selection, Awards Winners

The XX La Tijera Orotava Short Film Festival will screen its 14 official selection films on Friday and Saturday at Cines Yelmo La Villa, culminating in the announcement of its winners and prize distribution.

The XX La Tijera Orotava Short Film Festival will screen its official selection on Friday and Saturday, leading up to the announcement of its winners. Fourteen short films are competing for the awards, chosen from over 600 submissions.

Screenings on Friday begin at 8:30 PM at Cines Yelmo La Villa. The closing gala, including the awards announcement, will take place at the same time and venue on Saturday. Comedian Darío López will host both evenings. Tickets can be bought online at www.festivalcortosorotava.com.

The official selection includes:

  • Friday's Screenings: Juanita (Karen Joaquín, Uliane Tatit); Al fresco (Ignacio Rodo); Pobre marciano (Álex Rey); Familia (Frank Lucas Sánchez); Corre, Adela (Alba Pino); Puedes tú solito (Silvia Pradas); and Pipiolos (Daniel Sánchez Arévalo).
  • Saturday's Screenings: Depredador (Javier Fesser); Tito (Javier Celay); Kokuhaku (Adrià Guxens); Discordia (Álvaro Amate); Ghosting (Yago Casariego); Huir (Kike Maíllo, Alejandro Pereira); and Mosquito (David R. Losada).

Kicking off the festival, the Canary Islands section will be showcased on Thursday at 8:30 PM. This selection includes: La paciente desconocida de Freud (Antonia San Juan); Las churreras (Tomasi Doblecero); Giros (Willy Suárez); La lluvia que se fue (Estela Lola Cedrún Lastra, Álvaro Carrero Puig); ¿Falta mucho? (Sara Madoz); La habitación (Nacho Peña Ahedo); Toma Tierra (Yon Bengoechea Peña); Rabuda (Alexandra M. Añón); Dale Like (David Brito); Desahogo (Hugo Cardozo); Como antes (Alberto Gross Molo); and Cortes tontos (Lionel Marrero).

The festival will award first, second, and third prizes of 2,000, 1,000, and 500 euros, respectively. A separate 500-euro prize will go to the best Canary Islands short film. The festival also includes an "Off Section," showcasing films not featured in the official competition.
