A 50-year-old woman was hospitalized with moderate injuries after her vehicle veered off the TF-245 road in Arafo, Tenerife, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Civil Guard.

Road safety on Tenerife’s secondary roads is back in the spotlight following a crash in Arafo this Monday. According to the Canary Islands' 1-1-2 emergency service, a 50-year-old woman was moderately injured when her car went off the road at kilometer 1 of the TF-245 at approximately 5:20 p.m.

Incidents on these smaller roads are frequently scrutinized by authorities, as the island’s challenging terrain requires constant maintenance of road surfaces and signage. The Civil Guard has launched an investigation to determine whether the accident was caused by technical issues or human error.

After the alarm was raised, the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) sent a medical team to the scene. The driver, who suffered multiple bruises, was treated on-site before being taken to the Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria University Hospital for further evaluation.

While medical teams assisted the driver, the Tenerife Island Council’s road maintenance crew cleared debris from the area to restore traffic and ensure the safety of other drivers. The Civil Guard’s investigation is ongoing.
