
Woman Dies in Tenerife Apartment Fire; Six Hospitalized
A woman has died and six others were hospitalized following a major apartment fire that damaged 13 units in Los Realejos, Tenerife.
A woman has died following a fire at an apartment building in Los Realejos, Tenerife, early this morning. The blaze broke out at a property on Calle Los Bancales in the Toscal-Longuera area, triggering a major emergency response.
Firefighters from the La Orotava station, along with National and Local Police, were deployed to the scene. In addition to the fatality, six people required medical treatment and were taken to the hospital by the Canary Islands Emergency Service.
The fire caused significant damage, affecting 13 of the building’s 16 apartments. While most residents were able to stay with friends or family, local authorities arranged hotel accommodation for two families. Mayor Adolfo González visited the site, and social workers were on hand to provide support, particularly to one resident with specific needs.
The Judicial and Scientific Police are currently investigating the scene to determine the cause of the fire. The incident underscores the vital importance of residential safety protocols and the rapid response of emergency services in densely populated areas.
