A 39-year-old woman has been arrested in Santa Cruz de Tenerife for allegedly robbing a resident at knifepoint after gaining entry to their home under the guise of offering assistance.

Public safety in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is under scrutiny following a violent robbery in the La Salud neighborhood this Thursday. A 39-year-old woman has been arrested and is now facing court proceedings after allegedly using intimidation to rob a resident inside their own home.

The incident began around 9:00 p.m. when the suspect approached the victim on the street, offering to help them carry their belongings. Once inside the victim's home, the situation turned dangerous; the woman allegedly used a knife to threaten the resident and attempted to steal their cash while they were distracted.

Local police were alerted by a neighbor who noticed a woman acting strangely in the building’s common areas with visible injuries on her arms. When officers arrived, they quickly intervened and recovered 110 euros that the suspect had hidden in her shoes. They also located the pocketknife used in the attack, which had been stashed in an electrical meter closet.

The suspect received medical treatment for her injuries before being taken into custody. She now faces charges for robbery with violence, a serious offense that carries potential prison time.

Authorities are using this case to remind the public of the dangers of allowing strangers into their homes. They also credited the neighbor’s quick report for the rapid police response that helped resolve the situation.
