Woman, 70, Revived After Cardiac Arrest in Los Realejos Restaurant

A 70-year-old woman was revived by an off-duty EMT and emergency services at a Los Realejos restaurant on Friday after choking caused her heart to stop, and she was transported to hospital in critical condition.

A 70-year-old woman was saved just in time this Friday after she choked and her heart stopped. This happened in a restaurant on the TF-342 road, in the Icod el Alto area of Los Realejos.

The emergency happened at 1:47 PM. The Canary Islands emergency services (112) received a call from an off-duty emergency medical technician. He reported that someone was unconscious and their heart had stopped, and he immediately started CPR.

112 quickly sent a fully equipped ambulance from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) and a doctor from Hospital del Norte to the restaurant. They continued advanced CPR and managed to revive the woman.

After she was stable, the woman was taken by ambulance in critical condition to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands for specialist treatment.

Local Police also helped the emergency teams.

Health officials highlighted that the quick initial help was crucial in saving the woman's life.
