A winning ticket for last Saturday’s National Lottery draw, worth 60,000 euros, was sold at a service station in Granadilla de Abona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is celebrating again after a winning ticket for last Saturday’s National Lottery draw was sold in the province. According to Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (LAE), the winning number for the first prize—worth 60,000 euros per ticket—was 40010.

The ticket was sold at a well-known service station at kilometer 54 of the South Highway in Granadilla de Abona. This location has a long history of selling winning tickets, particularly during the Christmas Lottery, and has once again brought luck to the island. The winning number was also sold in A Coruña, Madrid, and Biscay. Meanwhile, the second prize, 68313, was sold exclusively in the province of Valencia.

This draw highlights how lottery habits are changing in Spain. While many people still prefer buying traditional paper tickets, digital platforms are becoming increasingly popular. These online tickets offer the same odds of winning as physical ones, with the added convenience of automatic prize payments, meaning winners do not need to present a paper ticket to claim their money.

The National Lottery remains a steady source of public revenue, offering various prizes including refunds and near-miss awards. The success of shops like the one in Granadilla de Abona often creates a "lucky spot" reputation. While there is no mathematical evidence that one location is luckier than another, this belief remains a central part of Spain’s lottery culture, often encouraging more people to play at these specific sites.
