Water Pipe Break Disrupts Supply to 20,000 in Santa Cruz; Restoration Expected by 6 PM
A broken water pipe, damaged during tree planting on the Rambla de Santa Cruz, has cut off water supply to 20,000 residents, with repairs expected to be completed by 6:00 p.m. today.
Emmasa is working hard to fix a break in the main water pipe connected to the Fumero reservoir. They expect to have the water supply back to normal around 6:00 p.m. today.
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council and Emmasa, the water company, say the break is affecting about 20,000 people in several neighborhoods.
The problem happened while workers were expanding the tree areas on the Rambla de Santa Cruz. They accidentally damaged the main water pipe to the Fumero reservoir, so it had to be shut off.
While they're fixing the pipe, they're also working to reduce the impact on residents. For example, they're lowering the water pressure in the El Toscal area, towards the Plaza de España.
The repair crews are working non-stop to get everything back to normal as quickly as possible. They estimate the water supply will be restored around 6:00 p.m. today.
The City Council thanks residents for their patience and apologizes for any trouble this may cause.
