Waste Truck Falls From Trailer on Tenerife Highway, Sparking Safety Concerns
A waste management truck fell from a flatbed trailer on Tenerife’s TF-1 motorway this Wednesday, prompting an investigation into cargo-securing protocols after the incident caused significant traffic delays but no injuries.
Concerns over the safety of transporting heavy machinery have resurfaced following an accident on the Tenerife South Motorway (TF-1) this Wednesday. According to El Día, a waste management truck being transported on a flatbed trailer fell off and overturned on the road.
The incident occurred at kilometer 90, between the Fonsalía junction and the center of Guía de Isora, causing significant traffic delays. Accidents like this on busy highways not only endanger drivers but also highlight the importance of strict cargo-securing regulations, which are essential to prevent shifting loads from becoming road hazards.
Fortunately, no one was injured. Emergency teams, including the Tenerife Fire Consortium, local police, and the Civil Guard, were quickly dispatched to clear the vehicle and restore traffic flow. An investigation is now underway to determine if the accident was caused by faulty anchoring or improper loading, which will be key in establishing liability.
