Wanted Man Arrested During Routine Police Check in Tenerife
A 47-year-old man was arrested in El Fraile, Tenerife, after a routine drug possession check revealed an active court warrant for his arrest.
A routine police check sparked by a tip-off from a member of the public has led to the arrest of a man wanted by the courts.
The incident occurred early last Saturday in El Fraile, Tenerife. Local police were called to a service station near the TF-66 road after a report that a man was using drugs inside a Ford Fiesta. When officers arrived, they found the 47-year-old resident of Guía de Isora inside the car, along with pipes used for smoking crack cocaine.
While the officers initially intended to issue a fine for drug possession, the situation changed once they ran the man’s identification through their system. The check revealed that an arrest warrant had been issued for him just 24 hours earlier.
This arrest highlights how effective interconnected police databases are, allowing officers to identify wanted individuals in real time during their daily patrols. Following his arrest, the man was taken to the Civil Guard station in Playa de las Américas and has since been handed over to the courts in Arona to face his pending charges.
