The town of Valle de Arriba in Santiago del Teide will host its annual festivities honoring the Most Holy Christ of the Valley and the Virgin of the Star from May 22 to May 25.

The town of Valle de Arriba, in the Tenerife municipality of Santiago del Teide, is getting ready for one of its most important annual celebrations. According to official municipal reports, the festivities honoring the Most Holy Christ of the Valley and the Virgin of the Star will run from Friday, May 22, to Monday, May 25, serving as a key event for the local community.

These celebrations are more than just religious observances; they are a vital way to preserve Canarian heritage. The program blends traditional religious services with community events, the highlight being the Rogation of the Lord of the Valley to Los Baldíos on Sunday morning, May 24. Historically, this event connects faith with the needs of local farmers and remains the most significant and well-attended part of the weekend.

The festivities begin on Friday, May 22, at 7:30 p.m. with the transfer of the religious image from the Parish of San Fernando Rey to the Hermitage of Santiago Apóstol. The evening’s entertainment will feature the Cherfe-Chinyero folk group and a performance by musician David Pérez. On Saturday, May 23, the schedule includes a 9:00 p.m. Eucharist led by parish priest Víctor Manuel Fernández Suárez, followed by a grand procession with the Municipal Band, a fireworks display by Canary Fiestas, and music from the Maraury Band.

Sunday’s events include the rogation, an outdoor mass, a community lunch, and a performance by Luis Deseda. The festivities conclude on Monday, May 25, with a final mass at 6:00 p.m., followed by the return of the image to the Parish of San Fernando Rey. Organizers hope this mix of traditional processions and lively social events will bring together residents and visitors alike to celebrate the cultural identity of this town in southern Tenerife.
