Unsettled Weather and Cooler Temperatures Forecast for Tenerife as Holy Week Continues
The Canary Islands face a shift in weather this Saturday as the Saharan dust clears, giving way to cooler temperatures and scattered rain across the province of Tenerife.
The calm weather that marked the start of Holy Week in the Canary Islands is coming to an end. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the province of Tenerife will see a shift this Saturday, as clear skies give way to cooler, more unsettled weather with scattered rain.
This change arrives as the Canary Islands government lifts its pre-alert for Saharan dust (calima). While air quality will improve, the dust will be replaced by a cooler, more humid atmosphere.
Today’s forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies across the province. Isolated showers are possible early in the day, with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Clouds will likely linger through the afternoon, particularly in the mid-altitude areas and mountain summits.
Temperatures are expected to drop, with the cooling most noticeable at higher elevations. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures will range from 16°C to 22°C. San Sebastián de La Gomera can expect 18°C to 24°C, while Santa Cruz de La Palma will see 17°C to 21°C. Valverde will be noticeably cooler, with temperatures between 12°C and 18°C.
Light, variable winds are expected, generally blowing from the north at the beginning and end of the day. While the rainfall is not expected to be heavy, this shift in weather marks a turning point for the holiday weekend, and residents and visitors should prepare for conditions less favorable than those seen on Good Friday.
