The University of La Laguna has maintained its position among Spain’s top 20 universities and the global top 3.1% in the 2026 Center for World University Rankings.

The University of La Laguna (ULL) has once again been named one of the top 20 universities in Spain, according to the 2026 Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). Out of more than 21,200 institutions evaluated worldwide, the Tenerife-based university ranked 643rd, placing it in the top 3.1% globally.

The CWUR ranking is highly regarded because it relies on objective data rather than perception surveys or self-reported information. Instead, it analyzes over 81 million data points across four key areas: quality of education, graduate employability, faculty excellence, and research output.

Within Europe, the university holds the 245th spot. Its consistent performance—maintaining the same 18th-place national ranking it held last year—demonstrates the institution's stability among the 53 Spanish universities evaluated.

Research remains one of the university’s greatest strengths, with a global ranking of 610th in that category. This metric measures the impact, volume, and citation frequency of the university’s scientific publications. By remaining among the world’s top 2,000 institutions, the University of La Laguna continues to prove its status as a key player in the Spanish academic system, consistently performing above the national average.
