University of La Laguna Condemns Unsanctioned Far-Right Gathering Near Campus
The University of La Laguna has expressed regret over incidents near its campus during an unsanctioned far-right gathering, emphasizing the event lacked official approval and vowing to work with authorities to ensure safety and academic continuity.
The University of La Laguna (ULL) released a statement on Friday addressing the events that happened near its campus during an unsanctioned gathering organized by far-right activist Vito Quiles.
The ULL expressed regret over the morning's incidents, stressing that the university did not approve the event. They stated that the gathering was not officially authorized and that any future events would need prior approval.
The university explained that due to the crowd and the tense atmosphere, they worked with authorities, particularly the National Police, to ensure campus safety and maintain normal academic operations.
The ULL also announced it will ask the Government Delegation for a full report on the events, including any incidents, to help them decide on future preventative measures.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the University of La Laguna's dedication to a safe, diverse, and respectful campus, and the importance of protecting academic activities from outside interference.
