ULL Commemorates Spanish Transition with Conference and Concert
The University of La Laguna commemorates the 50th anniversary of Spain's democratic transition with a conference on protest songs and a concert featuring iconic tunes from the era.
The University of La Laguna (ULL) has launched "For Freedom: Spain after 1975" to mark 50 years since Franco's death and the start of Spain's democratic transition.
Today, Wednesday, and tomorrow, Thursday, Professor Alberto García Aguilar will lead the conference "Letters and Songs for Freedom" at 4:00 PM in the Central Building's Multipurpose Room. The conference will explore the impact of singer-songwriters during that era, looking at their work from both literary and musical perspectives.
Tonight at 8:30 PM, the ULL Paraninfo will host a concert celebrating iconic protest songs, hosted by journalist Máximo Pradera.
Titled "If the Wind Erased What I Sing. History of the Protest Song in Spain," the concert will feature soprano Laura Sabatel and pianist Antonio López Serrano.
Seminar attendees can attend the concert for free. Tickets are also available to the public on the Ecoentradas platform for 10 euros, or 8 euros for students.
