Ukrainians to celebrate Vyshyvanka Day in Puerto de la Cruz
On 23 May, Tenerife’s Ukrainian community will celebrate Vyshyvanka Day at Lago Martiánez with the support of Puerto de la Cruz City Council, Loro Parque and Siam Park.
Ukrainians in Puerto de la Cruz will celebrate Vyshyvanka Day on 23 May with a community event dedicated to Ukrainian culture, identity and traditions.
The celebration will take place at Lago Martiánez, one of the city’s most recognisable locations, starting at 15:00. The event is organised by the new Ukrainian association in Tenerife, Asociación Ucraniana de Tenerife Norte, and is being held with the support of Puerto de la Cruz City Council, Loro Parque, Siam Park and other partners.
It will be the first event of this format in Puerto de la Cruz, giving Ukrainians an opportunity to officially present their culture, traditions and talent to the city. The programme is expected to include Ukrainian songs, dances, music, performances, traditional food and a warm community atmosphere.
Vyshyvanka Day is an important celebration for Ukrainians around the world. It is not only about wearing an embroidered shirt, but also about identity, memory, unity and the connection with Ukraine that Ukrainians preserve wherever they live.
For the Ukrainian community in Tenerife, the event is also a chance to thank Puerto de la Cruz for its support and to show the creativity, energy and cultural richness that Ukrainians can bring to the city.
Organisers invite guests to come wearing vyshyvankas, bring family and friends, and join the celebration. Ukrainians, friends of Ukraine, residents and visitors of the city are all welcome to take part and discover more about Ukrainian culture.
The celebration will take place on 23 May at 15:00 at Lago Martiánez in Puerto de la Cruz.
