On Friday afternoon in southern Tenerife, two young women, both 25 years old, nearly drowned in the sea. They were rescued!
Various services participated in the rescue operation, but the main role was played by rescuers from the Helimer helicopter (Maritime Rescue Service) and firefighters from the Las Chafiras park.
It all happened around three o'clock in the afternoon near the natural pools of Los Abrigos, in the town of Granadilla de Abona.
According to the Emergency Center, one of the women was able to grab onto a rock, while the other was barely staying afloat.
Then, the 1-1-2 service operators called a rescue helicopter, firefighters, two ambulances, medics from Tenerife South Airport, a doctor and a nurse from the local hospital, as well as the police.
Rescuers from Helimer pulled the girl with signs of drowning and moderate injuries from the water. And firefighters helped the second girl, who had only minor injuries, to get ashore.
The first victim was taken to Hospiten Sur Hospital in Playa de las Américas, and the second to the hospital in San Isidro.
