Two 31-year-old women were hospitalized with varying injuries after their vehicle crashed into a lane divider on Tenerife's TF-1 highway early this morning.

Road safety on the Canary Islands’ major highways is back in the spotlight following an accident on the TF-1 early this morning. According to the 1-1-2 Emergency and Security Coordination Center, two 31-year-old women were hospitalized after their car crashed into a lane divider in the municipality of Arico.

The crash occurred at 5:52 a.m. near El Porís, heading south. Emergency teams from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) arrived quickly to stabilize the women, who suffered injuries of varying severity. They were then rushed to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital for further treatment. Civil Guard officers also attended the scene to manage traffic and begin an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Incidents like this on the South Highway highlight the risks of driving on busy roads, particularly in low-light conditions. Traffic authorities continue to monitor this major Tenerife artery closely, reminding drivers to stay alert at all times. Collisions with roadside barriers often lead to more serious injuries due to the high speed and force involved. The Civil Guard is now investigating why the driver lost control of the vehicle.
