A judge in San Bartolomé de Tirajana has ordered two suspects to be held without bail following the fatal beating of a 36-year-old man in Mogán, Gran Canaria.

The investigation into the death of a man in Mogán has reached a turning point, with a judge ordering the two suspects to be held in custody without bail. According to Canarias7, the magistrate at the Court of First Instance of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has officially placed the pair under investigation for a crime that could be classified as either homicide or murder, depending on how the case develops.

The investigation took a dramatic turn after authorities reviewed security footage from a shopping center in Puerto Rico. Initially, the death was treated as an accidental fall, but the video evidence allowed the Civil Guard to identify and track down the two suspects within 24 hours. One man was arrested in Gran Canaria, while the second was found in Arona, Tenerife.

The incident occurred last Sunday following an altercation reportedly sparked by an attempted wallet theft. The 36-year-old victim was brutally beaten, suffering punches, kicks, and stomping even after he had fallen to the ground. Although paramedics initially stabilized him, he died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

This violence follows a series of recent conflicts in the area. The victim, a Moroccan national, had been involved in several altercations in the same vicinity. Just two weeks earlier, he was reportedly involved in a knife attack, though no formal complaint was filed. Additionally, on June 20, he was arrested by local police for assaulting a taxi driver in Arguineguín, an incident that required the driver to seek medical care.

Legally, the final charges will depend on a forensic report, which must confirm the direct link between the assault and the victim's death. The judge ordered the suspects to be held in prison to ensure they remain available for the proceedings and to prevent any tampering with evidence, as the video footage remains a central piece of the investigation.
