In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the city council fined two residents a total of 2,250 euros for violating the city's rules on landscaping and animal keeping.
The first fine, the largest, amounting to 2,001 euros, was issued to the owner of a restaurant in Plaza de la Candelaria. He was caught twice throwing bags of garbage directly onto the street instead of into containers. Inspectors noticed this on December 17, 2024, and February 27. According to the rules, this is not allowed, especially when the containers nearby are empty. If the restaurant owner admits guilt, the fine will be reduced to 1,600 euros, and if he pays immediately, it will be 1,200 euros.
The second incident occurred in Garcia Sanabria Park. A man was walking his dog without a leash, and it attacked another dog. Unfortunately, the small dog died. For this violation of the rules of animal keeping, the man was fined 250 euros. Local rules clearly state that dogs must be on a leash in public places so that they can be controlled.
