Two people were rescued by firefighters after their vehicle overturned on a coastal road in Los Silos, Tenerife, prompting renewed concerns regarding road safety in the area.

Road safety on secondary roads in northern Tenerife is under scrutiny again following a recent accident in Los Silos. Emergency services were called to rescue two people trapped inside their vehicle after it overturned.

The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. last Sunday, July 19, on a coastal road leading to La Caleta de Interián. Because the vehicle was unstable after the impact, firefighters from the Icod de los Vinos station had to stabilize the car before they could open a rear door to safely remove the occupants.

This incident highlights the importance of coordinated efforts between the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES 1-1-2) and local authorities. Once freed, the victims received immediate medical care from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), while the Civil Guard managed traffic and filed an incident report. The findings of this report will be key to understanding why the driver lost control—a vital concern in an area where the challenging terrain and road layout demand constant driver attention.
