Two young Italian men were sentenced Monday at the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for drug offenses after pleading guilty, with one receiving a suspended prison term and the other a non-suspended sentence.

Two young men of Italian origin were sentenced on Monday at the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for drug-related offenses. Both pleaded guilty as part of an agreement with the Public Prosecutor's Office, which meant there was no need for a trial. The court issued final judgments that cannot be appealed.

In the first case, police found a variety of drugs in one man's backpack during a security check. These included 34.84 grams of hashish, 2.55 grams of ketamine, 11.37 grams of cocaine, and 2.45 grams of ecstasy. Officers also seized 235 euros. Prosecutors estimated the drugs were worth 1,090 euros on the illicit market. The Public Prosecutor's Office had initially sought a sentence of three and a half years in prison and a fine of 3,266 euros. However, the man was ultimately sentenced to two years in prison and fined 1,000 euros. Because he had no prior criminal record, his prison sentence was suspended. This means he will not go to jail as long as he does not commit another crime in the next four years.

In the second case, the other man was found with 4.72 grams of cocaine and 6.44 grams of ecstasy. Police also seized 105 euros from him. Prosecutors stated these drugs would have been worth 587 euros on the black market. The Public Prosecutor's Office had sought a sentence of four and a half years in prison and a 1,000-euro fine. However, an agreement between his lawyer and the prosecutor reduced his sentence to three years in prison, with the fine remaining the same. Unlike the first case, this prison sentence cannot be suspended because it exceeds two years.
