Two men have been jailed in Tenerife following a violent robbery in La Laguna’s "El Cuadrilátero" nightlife district that left a victim with serious injuries.

Safety in nightlife districts is back in the headlines after two men were jailed for a violent robbery in La Laguna, Tenerife. Local authorities have sent both suspects to the Tenerife II prison, where they are being held while under investigation for robbery and causing serious bodily harm.

The attack occurred in the early hours of April 5 in the "El Cuadrilátero" area. Police are concerned by the suspects' tactics, which involve targeting vulnerable people—often those under the influence of alcohol or drugs—as bars close for the night. According to reports, the suspects first tried to steal from the victim using deception, but turned violent when he resisted.

The victim suffered a broken nose and other injuries after being repeatedly punched and kicked while on the ground. The La Laguna National Police led the investigation, using witness statements and a police lineup to identify the two men, both under 30, as the alleged attackers.

Following their arrest, the local court ordered the men to be held in custody without bail. The decision highlights the court’s strict stance on robberies involving excessive violence, allowing the investigation to continue ahead of a future trial.
