Two men were arrested at Tenerife South Airport after local residents helped police link them to a series of home burglaries across the island.

Two men, aged 30 and 37, were arrested at Tenerife South Airport as they attempted to flee the island following a string of home burglaries across Tenerife. The joint operation, carried out by the Civil Guard and National Police, successfully stopped the suspects before they could leave.

The investigation was a collaborative effort involving police units from Candelaria, Granadilla de Abona, La Orotava, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Crucially, the arrests were made possible by local residents who noticed the men’s suspicious behavior and recorded them on their mobile phones. These videos, combined with formal police reports, provided the evidence needed to link the suspects to multiple break-ins.

Investigators discovered that the pair used a methodical approach. One man would scout homes on foot to check if anyone was inside, while the other waited nearby in a vehicle. Once they confirmed a house was empty, they would climb over walls or force entry, specifically targeting cash, jewelry, and high-end watches.

When police intercepted the men at the airport, they recovered a large amount of the stolen property, which is now being returned to its owners. The suspects have appeared in court, and the investigation into the full extent of their crimes is ongoing. This case highlights how effective police coordination and proactive reporting from the public can be in stopping property crime.
