Two Medical Emergencies on Canary Islands Flights

Air traffic controllers expedited landings for two separate flights to the Canary Islands on Saturday due to passenger medical emergencies.

Another medical emergency happened on a flight heading to the Canary Islands.

On Saturday, air traffic controllers announced on their official X account that a flight from France reported a passenger with a medical emergency. The passenger needed urgent attention upon arrival at Tenerife South Airport. The flight was an Easyjet plane that had taken off from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Controllers quickly cleared a path for the plane, shortening its route over the north and east of the island. This path usually conflicts with planes departing from Tenerife airports. They gave the plane priority for a direct landing and arranged for medical staff to be waiting at the airport.

However, this wasn't the only passenger medical emergency in the Canary Islands on Saturday. Another flight, this one from Norway, also needed priority landing as it approached Gran Canaria because a passenger on board had a medical problem. Again, controllers shortened its landing path, cleared other air traffic, and arranged for medical help on the ground.
