Two Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Tenerife’s TF-1 Highway
Two people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision on Tenerife's TF-1 motorway near San Miguel de Abona on the night of April 21.
Road safety on the TF-1, a vital route in southern Tenerife, is back in the spotlight following a crash on the night of April 21. According to the 1-1-2 Emergency and Security Coordination Center, the accident occurred at 9:39 p.m. near San Miguel de Abona. A collision between two vehicles left one overturned and resulted in two injuries.
Emergency teams transported a 45-year-old man, who suffered multiple bruises, and a 20-year-old woman, who had lower back pain, to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital. Both had managed to exit their vehicles before medical teams arrived and were taken to the hospital in separate ambulances for further assessment.
The incident triggered a large emergency response. The Tenerife Fire Consortium secured the vehicles, while the Civil Guard managed traffic and began an investigation. Road maintenance crews also worked to clear debris and reopen the route.
Incidents like this highlight the challenges of managing high-traffic roads on the island, where heavy congestion and difficult terrain demand constant caution. Accidents on busy stretches like the one in San Miguel de Abona not only pose a risk to drivers but also cause significant travel delays, requiring swift coordination between emergency services, police, and maintenance crews to keep the network moving.
