Two Injured in Three-Car Crash in Tenerife After Vehicle Overturns
Two women were hospitalized with moderate injuries following a three-car collision in Granadilla, Tenerife, where an automated eCall system proved instrumental in coordinating the rescue.
Two women were injured in a three-car crash on Avenida Fundador Gonzalo González in Granadilla, Tenerife, this Friday. One of the vehicles involved overturned during the collision.
Emergency services were alerted to the scene, where the car’s built-in eCall system—a safety feature mandatory in all new EU vehicles since 2018—proved vital. The technology allowed the Tenerife Fire Consortium to speak directly with the trapped driver, helping rescue teams coordinate her extraction more effectively.
Once freed, both women were assessed by the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC). They were taken to Hospiten Sur University Hospital with moderate injuries, including a traumatic brain injury.
Local police managed traffic while the scene was cleared and have begun an investigation into the cause of the accident. The incident highlights how automated alert systems and quick coordination between emergency teams are essential for saving lives and minimizing the impact of road accidents.
