Two Injured in Tenerife Highway Crash
Two young adults were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle crash on Tenerife’s southern motorway late Tuesday night.
Road safety on Tenerife’s major highways is under scrutiny again following a crash on the southern motorway near the island’s capital. Emergency services reported that the accident occurred at 10:08 p.m. this past Tuesday, when a car veered off the road for reasons still being investigated.
Two people—a 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman—were treated at the scene by medical staff before being taken to the Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria University Hospital. One patient sustained moderate injuries, while the other’s condition is considered mild.
This incident highlights the ongoing risks for young drivers at night, a group that national traffic reports consistently identify as being at higher risk on the road. The response to the crash also underscores the importance of quick emergency protocols on one of the busiest roads in the Canary Islands, where any accident can lead to significant traffic delays. Police are now working to determine exactly why the vehicle left the road.
