According to the 112 Emergency and Security Coordination Center, the collision between two cars required a complex rescue operation, underscoring the risks faced by drivers on the island's busy southern routes.
The accident occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m., prompting a swift response from emergency teams. Firefighters from the Tenerife Consortium had to use specialized equipment to free both drivers, who were trapped inside their badly damaged vehicles. After receiving initial treatment from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), both victims were taken to local hospitals with moderate injuries.
The Civil Guard is now investigating the cause of the crash to determine exactly what happened. Meanwhile, the Island Council’s road maintenance crews cleared debris and fluids from the scene to reopen the road to traffic.
