Two people were injured during a rescue operation after three individuals fell into the water at Playa Jardín in Tenerife this Saturday.

A maritime emergency occurred at Playa Jardín in Puerto de la Cruz this Saturday, highlighting the ongoing dangers of the sea along Tenerife’s northern coast. According to the Canary Islands 112 emergency service, three people fell into the water, leading to a rescue operation that left two of them injured.

Quick action from both rescue services and local citizens prevented a tragedy. A 21-year-old man managed to get out of the water on his own but was taken to Hospiten Bellevue hospital suffering from a moderate near-drowning. A 20-year-old woman was rescued by a local resident and treated on-site for minor bruises. A third man was also involved but did not require medical attention.

Incidents like this at Playa Jardín serve as a stark reminder of the risks posed by rip currents and strong swells in the area. Local authorities continue to emphasize that conditions along the coast can change rapidly, even when the sea appears calm. The incident underscores the vital importance of following all safety signage and warnings when visiting the beach.
