Two people were hospitalized with moderate injuries after a car overturned on Tenerife’s TF-2 highway in Santa Cruz on Saturday afternoon.

Road safety on Tenerife’s major highways is back in the spotlight following a crash on the TF-2 in Santa Cruz this Saturday. According to the Canary Islands' emergency services (CECOES 112), a car overturned in the northbound lane shortly after 3:30 p.m., triggering a large-scale emergency response.

Three people were involved in the accident. A 76-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman were taken to San Juan de Dios Hospital with moderate injuries. A third person, a 49-year-old man, was assessed by medical teams at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

The rescue operation required a coordinated effort from several agencies. Firefighters had to extricate the driver from the vehicle before paramedics could provide medical care. Meanwhile, the Civil Guard managed traffic and began an investigation into the cause of the crash, while road maintenance crews cleared the debris to reopen the route.

This incident highlights the need for continued caution on Tenerife’s busiest roads, particularly the TF-2, which is a vital link for the metropolitan area. The emergency response teams were able to secure the scene and assist those involved efficiently.
