Two Elderly Passengers Hospitalized After Car Crash in Arona, Tenerife
Two elderly passengers were hospitalized following a car accident on Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina in Arona, Tenerife, on Friday.
Road safety in southern Tenerife is back in the spotlight following a car accident in Arona this Friday. According to the Canary Islands’ emergency services (CECOES 112), a car veered off the road on Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina, leaving two elderly passengers hospitalized.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash at 2:47 p.m. and quickly dispatched medical and police teams to the scene. An 82-year-old woman, who sustained a moderate arm injury, was taken to Hospiten Sur University Hospital by a basic life support ambulance. An 88-year-old man, who suffered minor bruising, was also transported to the same hospital by a medicalized ambulance.
This incident on a busy urban road highlights the need for effective emergency response in high-traffic areas. The Civil Guard is currently investigating the cause of the crash. The event serves as a reminder of the challenges of managing traffic in coastal tourist hubs, where the mix of vehicles and pedestrians requires constant attention to road safety and infrastructure.
