Two Arrested for Drug Trafficking Operation in Tenerife Tourist District
Spanish National Police arrested two individuals for operating a drug-dealing scheme hidden in a planter within the Las Verónicas tourist district in Arona, Tenerife.
Security in the tourist areas of southern Tenerife is back in the spotlight following a recent police operation in Arona. National Police officers arrested two people accused of running a drug-dealing operation in the Las Verónicas leisure district, a busy area that requires constant monitoring to prevent street-level drug sales.
Investigators discovered that the suspects used a nearby planter as a hidden storage unit to avoid detection. They would take cash from customers and then quickly retrieve drug packets from the planter. After watching these transactions, officers stopped the buyers and seized several doses of drugs. A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of 36 packets of marijuana and three packets of cocaine.
This operation is part of a broader effort by law enforcement to dismantle drug supply chains in public spaces. These activities not only threaten public health but also undermine the sense of safety in popular tourist destinations. The two suspects have been handed over to the judicial authorities.
The National Police are encouraging the public to help fight these crimes. Anyone with information or suspicions regarding drug distribution can report them via email at antidroga@policia.es. These tips are vital in helping police identify and shut down criminal hubs.
