Around 20 companies are competing to participate in a four-year, 127 million euro project to improve the infrastructure of the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which is scheduled to start operating in 2026.

Around 20 companies want to participate in a major project to improve the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The City Council proposed a large-scale plan back in July to renovate public spaces, roads, and infrastructure.

This plan is designed for 4 years and has a budget of 127 million euros. The money will be used to quickly carry out procurement and construction work in the city.

Santa Cruz is the only city in the Canary Islands that uses this approach. Thanks to this, it will be possible to conclude agreements with companies faster, make everything more transparent, and improve the quality of work. It will be easier for the city to order the necessary work without holding a separate tender for each case.

Carlos Tarife, advisor on communal issues, announced that there are already 20 applications from companies that want to participate in the project. This means that the tool will be really powerful, as it has interested many construction companies. Although the selection process is still ongoing, the project is scheduled to start in January 2026.

According to Tarife, there is a lot to improve in Santa Cruz, especially when it comes to roads and sidewalks that need to be replaced.

He added that technical specialists will determine what work needs to be done first, but the money for everything has already been provided.
