Truck Overturns at Güímar Roundabout, Sparking Renewed Road Safety Concerns
A 26-year-old driver was hospitalized following a truck rollover at the Puzol roundabout in Güímar that caused significant traffic delays on Tuesday.
Road safety at the Güímar junctions is back in the spotlight after a truck overturned at the Puzol roundabout this Tuesday. The accident, which occurred around 1:00 p.m., left the 26-year-old driver in need of hospital care.
The crash caused significant traffic delays, forcing authorities to set up detours while they worked to clear the scene. Removing the heavy vehicle required a coordinated effort from the Civil Guard, local police, and the Tenerife Island Council’s maintenance crews.
Experts note that accidents like this at busy roundabouts often stem from the challenges of maneuvering heavy loads. When a large vehicle takes a curve, shifting weight can easily compromise its stability if the driver’s speed isn't carefully adjusted for the turn.
After receiving initial treatment from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) at the scene, the driver was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. While the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, crews are currently focused on clearing the road and restoring normal traffic flow to the area.
