Transvulcania 2026 Sells Out Early as Global Trail Running Spotlight Hits La Palma
The 2026 Transvulcania adidas has reached its sixteenth edition with record-breaking demand, selling out all race spots three months early as it continues to establish La Palma as a premier global destination for trail running.
The 2026 Transvulcania adidas has cemented its place as a premier event in international trail running, reaching its sixteenth edition with record-breaking interest. During the official presentation at the La Palma Sports Fair, organizers announced that all race spots sold out three months early. With over 1,600 athletes currently on the waiting list, the event’s status as a global must-run race is clearer than ever.
The event is a major economic driver for La Palma. At the opening ceremony, representatives from the Cabildo de La Palma, local municipalities, the Canary Islands government, and the event’s sponsors emphasized the massive logistical effort required to host such a competition. With over 3,000 runners registered, the race continues to attract elite talent, including adidas team members Luis Alberto Hernando, Pablo Villa, Daniel Osanz, Kimi Schreiber, and Ezequiel Pauluzak.
Running alongside the main races is the "Sport Experience" fair, which showcases local businesses, food, and sports education. The action kicks off this afternoon with the Vertical Kilometer, a challenging climb from the Port of Tazacorte to the El Time Tower. This sets the stage for a full weekend of racing, culminating on Saturday with the Ultramarathon, Marathon, and Half Marathon.
The event also places a strong emphasis on the future of the sport, with the "Kids Run" highlighting the growing popularity of trail running among local youth. Organizers credit the success of Transvulcania to the strong partnership between the government, local organizations, and the private sector. As the finish line returns to Los Llanos de Aridane, the 2026 edition proves that after sixteen years, the "Isla Bonita" has successfully transformed its rugged landscape into a world-class destination for sports tourism.
