TLP Tenerife Marks 20th Anniversary as Spain’s Premier Tech Gathering
The 20th edition of TLP Tenerife has officially opened at the Santa Cruz Exhibition Center, marking two decades of the event's growth into a cornerstone of Spain’s digital and creative culture.
The 20th edition of TLP Tenerife is officially underway at the Santa Cruz Exhibition Center, once again proving itself as a cornerstone of Spain’s tech scene. All 1,200 available network spots sold out back in December, a clear sign of the event's enduring popularity after two decades.
Since its humble beginnings in 2006, when it started in El Rosario with just 150 participants, the event has grown significantly, welcoming over 740,000 attendees over the years. Event director Idaira Febles and local officials note that TLP has evolved from a simple computer gathering into a vital part of the island's cultural calendar. During the opening ceremony, Cabildo President Rosa Dávila and Innovation Minister Juan José Martínez highlighted that the event has moved past its post-pandemic recovery and is now in a phase of true maturity and stability.
The heart of TLP lies in its loyal community. The sight of participants arriving with their own equipment and furniture for a six-day stay shows that the event’s real value is the lasting personal connections formed between attendees.
This year’s program goes well beyond gaming, featuring the regional K-Pop World Festival and various sessions focused on creative industries. Organizers have also introduced healthier food and drink options, moving away from a reliance on energy drinks to better align with modern wellness standards. With over 40 simultaneous activities and a dedicated team of 200 staff and volunteers, TLP Tenerife continues to be a driving force for digital culture and community, where participants feel a genuine sense of belonging.
