Titsa Expands Bus Services for La Orotava Pilgrimage This Sunday
Tenerife’s transport operator Titsa is expanding bus services on three key routes this Sunday to manage increased passenger demand during the annual La Orotava pilgrimage.
Tenerife’s transport network faces another major test this Sunday, June 14, as crowds head to La Orotava for its annual pilgrimage. To manage the influx of visitors, the public transport company Titsa is expanding its services to help people travel to one of the island's busiest festive events.
The company has focused its plan on three main routes:
- Line 101 (La Laguna – La Orotava): Extra buses will depart from La Matanza between 11:50 a.m. and 6:05 p.m. to help reduce traffic congestion near the town center.
- Line 351 (Puerto de la Cruz – La Orotava): Buses will run hourly in both directions between the Botanical Garden and La Orotava station from 9:25 a.m. to 9:50 p.m.
- Line 353 (Puerto de la Cruz – Los Realejos – La Orotava): Ten additional services will run from the Los Realejos junction between 11:50 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
These extra services begin at 9:00 a.m. and are designed to keep traffic moving and ensure road safety during the event. Titsa noted that it may add even more buses throughout the day if demand is higher than expected. Using public transport is being encouraged as the best way to avoid the parking shortages and road closures typically seen during major island pilgrimages.
