Tenerife’s transport operator TITSA is adding 23,000 extra seats to bus services this Sunday to accommodate crowds attending the San Roque Pilgrimage in Garachico.

This Sunday, August 16, the Tenerife public transport company TITSA will increase bus services for the San Roque Pilgrimage in Garachico, a festival of National Tourist Interest. To handle the large crowds expected, the company is adding 23,000 extra seats to Line 363, which connects Puerto de la Cruz, Icod de los Vinos, Garachico, Los Silos, and Buenavista.

The reinforced service will run from 9:30 a.m. until the final return bus departs at 11:00 p.m. This boost in capacity follows last year’s event, which saw over 13,100 passengers, and aims to manage traffic congestion more effectively.

The event will also bring changes to local travel in Garachico. Regular bus stops in the historic center will be closed, with all TITSA services moving to a temporary station near the local soccer field. Authorities may also restrict traffic on the TF-42 highway between kilometers 0 and 7.8 if roads become too crowded. If these closures occur, public transport and freight vehicles will be given priority to ensure services remain on schedule.

TITSA encourages passengers to check updated schedules and route changes on their website, by calling 922 53 13 00, or via their social media channels. These measures are part of a broader effort to promote sustainable travel, reduce the number of private cars on the road, and improve safety during this major cultural event.
