Titsa is adding 20,000 extra bus seats and implementing a special shuttle service to accommodate pilgrims attending the El Socorro festivities in Güímar on September 7 and 8.

Public transport in southeast Tenerife is gearing up for the El Socorro festivities in Güímar, with bus company Titsa adding 20,000 extra seats for September 7 and 8. This move aims to make buses the primary way for pilgrims and visitors to reach the event, replacing the need for private cars.

Last year, nearly 15,000 people used public transport for the pilgrimage, prompting the Tenerife Island Council to increase capacity this year. Under the direction of Mobility Minister Eulalia García, a special "530" shuttle service will run continuously between the Güímar bus station and the center of El Socorro. This service will operate throughout the "Bajada de la Virgen" on the 7th and continue all day on Monday, the 8th.

Additionally, line 120—which connects the Santa Cruz Interchange to Güímar—will see more frequent buses during the early hours of Sunday. Due to road closures in the town center, routes for lines 032 and 035 will be modified, while lines 033 and 121 will adjust their schedules to maintain connections from areas like Fasnia and the Güímar Industrial Estate.

To keep traffic moving, a temporary bus stop will be set up in El Socorro for lines 530 and 120, and stop 8094 will be closed to avoid congestion. These measures are part of a broader effort by the Island Council to reduce the environmental impact and traffic jams caused by the large crowds, providing an efficient alternative for everyone attending the festival.
