Title Fight Intensifies at 12th Rally Ciudad de La Laguna

The Canary Islands Asphalt Rally Championship (CCRA) is reaching a critical stage, with the competition so close that every fraction of a second counts. The 12th Rally Ciudad de La Laguna, taking place in Tenerife this weekend, marks a turning point in the season as the top contenders battle for the lead.

The championship is currently defined by a fierce duel between Enrique Cruz and Alexey Lukyanuk. Cruz, driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, leads the standings with 151 points after securing three consecutive victories. Lukyanuk follows closely with 149 points in his Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, having gained an edge by consistently performing well in bonus-point special stages. This weekend will be particularly interesting, as it marks Lukyanuk’s debut on the La Laguna tracks, which could shift the momentum seen in previous rounds.

Other drivers remain in the hunt for the title. Yeray Lemes, who won this event in 2024, sits at 126 points after a string of podium finishes. Sergio Fuentes, with 114 points, remains a serious threat; his impressive consistency and history of podium finishes in this race mean he is well-positioned to capitalize on any mistakes made by the leaders.

The event features 123 registered vehicles, including 16 teams in the regularity category. The competition spans nine special stages, beginning this Friday with night runs in Boquerón-Valle Guerra and Tejina-El Socorro. Saturday’s schedule covers the majority of the 87.5-kilometer route, featuring double passes through Tegueste, Valle de Guerra, and Tacoronte-El Rosario—where extra points are up for grabs—before the final stage in Candelaria. Following this weekend, the CCRA season will continue with upcoming rounds in Isla Bonita, Maspalomas, and Comarca Norte.
