The festival runs from 4:00 PM on Friday, December 5th, to 7:30 PM on Monday, December 8th. The full schedule, also available in the "programa" section, features 129 events.
A highlight of this year's festival is the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (OST) performing Igor Stravinsky's "The Soldier's Tale." This one-hour performance will take place on Sunday, December 7th, at 7:00 PM in the courtyard of the old Convent of San Sebastián.
Festival director Ernesto Rodríguez Abad, a professor, storyteller, writer, and researcher, called this performance the "main course" of the festival's rich program. He will also be narrating for the OST's performance.
Now in its 30th year, the festival celebrates the art of storytelling. It brings back some of the most celebrated storytellers who have graced Los Silos over the years, including María Teresa Andruetto (Argentina), Antonio Rodríguez Almodóvar (Seville), Niré Collazo (Uruguay), Liliana Cinetto (Argentina), Emilio Lome (Mexico), Eric Chartiot (France), and Romer YPunto (Venezuela).
The festival also features artists from beyond traditional storytelling. Visual artists Francesca dell’Orto (Italy) and Ramón Freire (Cuenca) are participating. Dell’Orto created this year's festival poster and illustrations for Mnemósyne magazine, while Freire has created 10 paintings for the "Palabras ilustradas" (Illustrated Words) exhibition.
This year, the festival will also pay tribute to Tomás de Iriarte. His fables will be brought to life in the streets of Los Silos. Additionally, the festival will explore a lesser-known aspect of Iriarte: his erotic poetry, which is largely unfamiliar to the public. This promises to be another fascinating element of the festival.
