Three Injured in TF-5 Highway Collision in Tenerife
Three men were hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision on Tenerife’s TF-5 highway near La Orotava on Sunday morning.
Road safety on Tenerife’s major highways is back in the spotlight after a rear-end collision on the TF-5 this Sunday. According to the Canary Islands' 112 emergency service, three men were injured in the crash. Such accidents are common on this busy route, particularly during periods of low visibility or heavy weekend traffic, highlighting the risks faced by drivers.
The accident occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. at kilometer 37, near La Orotava. A van and a private car were involved, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. Two basic life support units from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) were sent to the scene to assess and stabilize the victims.
All three men were transported to Hospiten Bellevue University Hospital. One man is being treated for moderate injuries, while the other two, aged 59 and 62, were admitted with minor trauma.
The Civil Guard managed traffic at the scene to prevent further congestion and has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. This incident serves as a reminder of the need for caution on one of the island's busiest roads.
