Three people were injured, including one critically, following a three-vehicle collision on Tenerife’s TF-1 motorway early this morning.

Road safety on Tenerife’s main highways is under scrutiny again following a serious three-vehicle crash on the TF-1 motorway in Arico early this morning.

According to the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center (112), the accident occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m., triggering a major emergency response on the busy stretch of road.

Three people were injured in the collision. A 21-year-old man suffered severe multiple trauma and was stabilized by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital. A 51-year-old man was also taken to Hospital Parque with minor bruising, while a third person was treated at the scene and did not require hospital care.

The Tenerife Fire Department helped secure the area, while road crews worked to clear the debris and restore traffic flow. The Civil Guard has launched an investigation into the crash, which is standard procedure for accidents involving serious injuries.

This incident highlights the risks of driving on the island’s expressways during the early morning, when visibility and driver alertness are vital. Investigators are now working to determine the cause of the crash and whether any external factors or traffic violations played a role.
