Three people were hospitalized following a two-car collision on El Piche Street in Santa Cruz de Tenerife that required emergency responders to extricate one trapped victim.

Road safety in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is back in the spotlight following a car accident on El Piche Street this afternoon. According to the Canary Islands’ 1-1-2 emergency service, a collision between two cars left three people injured, once again highlighting the risks of driving in busy urban areas.

The crash was serious enough that the Tenerife Fire Consortium had to use specialized equipment to free one person trapped inside their vehicle. This rescue effort emphasizes how vital a fast response is when every second counts in a traffic accident.

Paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) treated the three victims at the scene: a 67-year-old woman, a 37-year-old woman, and a 50-year-old man. All three were taken to Hospiten Rambla University Hospital. Doctors report that the 67-year-old woman has moderate injuries, while the other two sustained only minor injuries.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. Local police are now investigating the cause of the crash. Beyond the immediate traffic delays, the incident serves as a reminder for local authorities to review road safety at critical points throughout the city to help prevent future accidents.
