Three people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation following two separate building fires in Tenerife between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Emergency services in Tenerife were kept busy Friday night and early Saturday morning after two separate fires left three people needing treatment for smoke inhalation. According to the 112 Emergency Coordination Center, while neither incident was major, they serve as a reminder of the importance of fire safety in homes and businesses.

The first fire broke out in a private home on Calle Candelaria in La Orotava shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Friday. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and a 57-year-old man was taken to Hospiten Bellevue Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

A few hours later, at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, a second fire occurred at a business on Calle Hero in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Two women, aged 59 and 42, were affected by smoke and were transported to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital for further care.

These incidents highlight the vital role of fire prevention and early detection systems. Under Spain’s Technical Building Code, residential and commercial buildings must follow strict safety protocols. These measures, combined with the rapid response of emergency teams, remain the best way to protect public health and property.
