The "My Barraquito, Your Zaperoco" contest is launching in La Orotava!

The second phase of the contest starts this Wednesday, October 1st, and will last until October 19th. This year, 27 coffee shops from all over the municipality are participating.

Want to learn more about each participant? Look for brochures with photos of their drinks and opening hours on the municipality's website or on social media.

Visitors will vote for the best barraquito and zaperoco, and the coffee shops with the most votes will receive prizes.

Also, if you visit at least 5 different coffee shops (20% of all participants) and vote, you can win a stay for two with breakfast at the Parador del Teide hotel! The winner of the contest among coffee shops will also receive a night for two at the Parador del Parque Nacional del Teide hotel.

Voting will be online via a special web application. There you will find information about each coffee shop, photos of drinks, their ingredients and descriptions. To vote, you will need to scan the QR code in the establishment, which is located on napkins or coasters.

"My Barraquito, Your Zaperoco" is not just a competition, but a great opportunity to support local businesses, attract new visitors and make La Orotava even more attractive to tourists.

Daisy Ramos, head of the trade department, invites everyone to taste different variations of the traditional barraquito and zaperoco – unique coffee drinks with liqueur, which are part of the island's gastronomic culture, especially in the north.

Last year, the competition collected over 1,700 votes, and this year the organizers are hoping for no less activity.

Detailed conditions of the competition can be found on the municipality's website.
